I hope I'm posting in the correct place. I got an incredible deal on a B&S 599-7032-10, almost complete in the wooden box. I like to keep my expensive tools clean, as soon as I got it I used alcohol to clean it, worked great. BUT, some alcohol got inside the indicator and made the crystal foggy, I thought I would use my heat gun to evaporate it. I put the gun on the lowest setting, its a solder station, at 150C, held it 8-10 inches from the indicator, I literally looked at my monitor and glanced back and the plastic crystal had melted. Ok I learned my lesson. This is my question, I have seen the sites that repair indicators, I asked for pricing estimates but I haven't gotten any, I don't have alot of money, and I like to do things myself to learn, is there a cheap indicator that has a 28mm crystal, so I could use it for parts to replace my own crystal? OR, where could I buy a complete crystal installed in a bezel
I bought a replacement crystal off ebay from a seller called darerzeczk0 on Jan 6 2022, they said they shipped it and in Feb they said they shipped a second crystal, but as of March 3 2022 I have not received any of them, the only reason I mentioning this is he offers indicator repairs on their ebay page. I didn't want to be a douche, they could be honest and the USPS lost both crystals, but I have a hard time believing they lost 2 in a row. I didn't leave them any feedback, just beware of this seller. I ordered a 3rd crystal from a different seller out of China and had it in 14 days, but I broke it trying to press it into my indicator.
I'm sorry for the long post. If there are some cheap indicators that have 28mm crystals, I was thinking of swapping it for the OEM B&S bezel so I could use it while I ship the bezel to have a new crystal installed, instead of shipping my entire indicator. Thanks.
