The CH will also vary based on the size tooling you are using as well as the holder and if you plan to use any oversized holders. Jbolt did an extensive review of holders (should be a sticky for others) in previous posts, and there are many other posts on the subject. Although you can mix and match holders, some may not fit wither w/o shimming or milling which is a real PTA. So once you find ones that work for your size lathe I would recommenced getting a bunch of them. Since QCTP also vary in dimensions, I would recommend waiting until you have the lathe and determine the size tooling you plan to use and check fitment then.
Qctp Holder Review Part 1
I have read a lot of discussions on the pros and cons of QCTP holders from various manufacturers but never a head to head comparison so I collected four of the commonly used BXA-1 holders for review. I have had inexpensive import QCTP's and more recently a new Aloris QCTP . Just from an...

Qctp Holder Review Part 2

Qctp Compatibility - Axa To Axa?
I have an AXA QCTP and want to get a couple more tool holders. Is it important to get tool holders from same source/manufacture as the QCTP? Or do AXA tool holders from one company "normally" fit AXA QCTP from another manufacture. Thanks, Regis

Phase II QCTP. Not what I expected.
Hi guys. I have a PM1022 lathe with the "standard" chinese QCTP. I felt it had a lot of slop in the mechanism, including the round part that the handle attaches to. My brother has an older Jet lathe (40"?) with a Phase II QCTP on it. It is nice and tight with basically no slop. The Phase...
