Well a sturdy box filled with lathe tooling followed me home from a recent auction. Turns out it is all WAY too big for my use, so will be reselling it.. But I'd like to know what it actually is first (any specific machine/size used on, etc).
Does anybody have any old literature to tell the details of these Armstrong tool holders?
a) Armstrong #83-121; holds a .750" square HSS tool bit, shank measures 1.25 x 2.25 x 13" long
b) Armstrong #83-187 parting tool; holds a .250 x 1.250" parting tool insert, and shank is 1" x 2" x 9.5" long.
Also in the box are several sets of jaws for (size unknown) lathe chucks. Is there any use for, or interest in such a thing since they are unidentified?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Wes

Well you pretty much have all the info for the Armstrong holders. They are for a big lathe like the 46x180 lathe I run at work. But I don't use the lantern tool post. As for the chuck jaws a picture with some measurements would help.

Here is a picture of what is there. It looks to be 3 sets for 3-jaw chucks, of three different sizes. Plus some other odd pieces.
I guess I had the impression that once separated from the chuck, that they were of no use. Yes/no??

lean out the groves in the sides that is where numbers is usually stamped. If not measure the with of the jaw ,the with and depth of the slot, and spacing of the teeth. Some one might could use them. But you are right they are ground for a specific chuck.
