Was surfing FB marketplace the other day and deleted a few "skeevy" ads I didn't want to see. Then started to get messages in my FB messenger form these same ads.
Apparently, "sellers" can set an "auto reply" if you do anything with their ad. Open it, delete it, report it, whatever. Touch it in any way and get your messenger flooded.
I find this even more "skeevy" and if I want to block a "skeevy" ad from my feed, I feel I shouldn't be getting messages from them. That just defeats the purpose of deleting them.
It all just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
We all know FB makes it damned near impossible to find these settings in the options.
Anyone know how to block these "auto-replies"?
There must be a setting for it somewhere, but once again.....well, you know: facebook.
Something else I've noticed is I'm seeing ads that have a description along the lines of "1989 Maserati" and the picture is an old utility trailer or things like that. Is that sellers just being stupid or is facebook filling in the titles with "whatever" if the seller leaves it blank?
It's almost worth dumping FB altogether now, even if marketplace does have some uses. But I'm rapidly approaching the "BS saturation point" with it.......I don't use facebook other than marketplace, but I've just about had my fill of it. Seems to be mostly scammers, overpriced junk or dating/thinly veiled porn sites now anyways....
I can't believe I've got every setting I can find in FB turned "off" or set to "private" and this kind of crap still comes through. Maybe there's a setting in the actual "messenger app", but I refuse to download another FB tracking program so they can make even more money off my personal data (ie: where you buy things, what you buy, who you talk to, where you go, etc).
Why does it seem that human nature is to create something useful and then turn it into something disgusting/skeevy as soon as possible?
I guess I'm kind of ranting now, so I'll end it here.
