The only time it ever makes sense to order from Online Metals is when they have 20% off. They do it quite often. You're not really getting 20% off, of course ... just brings the total down to where everyone else is.
I like hobby metal kits (their shipping and prices are very reasonable). I also like buymetal.com. They have flat rate shipping of $25 on anything up to 100 lbs and 6 feet long. Their prices have beat onlinemetals every time I have looked, and the shipping often makes the difference huge. Xometry has free shipping and their prices seem pretty good as well. I haven't used online metals in a few years now and I have no regrets.
Yeh, online metals isn't the cheapest, but their selection is pretty good, and they usually get the order to me the next day.
If I'm not in a hurry, I'll check eBay.
