I need to Know the oil types in all three Gearboxes: the main upper, lower cross-feed, and cross-slide gearbox. The manual is coming, but I would like to get my new purchase up and running this weekend.
Thanks for any info.

20 or 30Wt non-detergent or ISO68 or ISO100 hydraulic fluid would be sufficient.
In colder climates and unheated workspaces the 20wt or the ISO68 would be preferable

Thanks want to flush and refill before firing.up . It’s been years sitting in somebody’s garage.

Generally you want a recirculating oil for the gearbox and a way oil for the apron. I'd wait for the manual but a Jet 1340 runs DTE 24 and Vactra 2. My lathes with higher top speed run DTE24 while the larger, slower machines run ISO68. Dave

I think your right just anxious to turn something.

Received the manual today sys gearbox’s need machine oil? To me that can be almost anything. Does say 60-2000 RPM so thinking should be theDTE-24.

You can use, a ISO 32 gear or hydraulic oil in the headstock, and ISO 68 for the gearbox and carriage. You do not need to get Mobil oil, you just do not want to use car oils for engines/transmissions or differentials that have detergent and/or extreme pressure (EP) additives. Zoro has free shipping if over $50, may want to get some way oil also.

Was able to acquire couple gallons of DTE 24 FREE FROM MY EX Employer free!
