Got this one off of Market Place yesterday. I'm sure it has a lot of history if it could talk. May be spring before I get around to stripping it and repainting it because I use the Citrus Strip and my power washer. I have already turned the water off outside to my shop and bled the lines and stored the pressure washer for the winter. These old boxes and machines that I restore surely have a story. Kind of like "If these Walls Could Talk"

Matt the Scrap Whisperer on You Tube nailed it. He saw my video and said it was a vintage Craftsman badge. Here is a picture of the old badge.

Excellent picture. I just love restoring these old boxes and machines. I sometimes try to imagine what it must have been like when people such as your grandfather used them. Wouldn't it be great if the toolbox belonging to your grandfather had a diary. I am certain that some of them were used to feed families. Others were just stay at home toolboxes that got used when the oil needed changing, or the lawn mower needed a spark plug tune up. Example is my 2 old Clausing lathes. One was built in 1939 and one was built in 1964. The Champion Blower and Forge Camel Back Drill press an early 1900's or late 1800's machine. It would be safe to say these old girls were used to feed families of the skilled craftsmen and women that used them. My interest is to leave them in better condition than when I got them so they can live on and be used by other skilled craftsman.

Unfortunately, those mud daubers will not be deterred. Leave it open to go eat lunch and they are building.
But good luck.

I may have found a solution to the mud daubers. A metal wall cabinet that was full of their nest got sprayed with a very strong mixture of Malathion after I cleaned al the nest out. Have not seen a mud dauber close to it since. However when I open the doors to the cabinet the smell will almost suffocate you. Other than having an eyeball growing out the side of my ear seems like I have won the battle. LOL
