I thought the blinkers ran on smoke, not liquid. Maybe I am thinking of British cars, I know they use smoke liberally in their blinkers and other accessories.

You have to be a little older to remember it, but there was a t shirt available years ago with the logo "I ran into Tammy Faye at the mall" It was a reference to literally running into Tammy Faye Baker (the then wife of evangelist Jimmy Baker) who applied makeup with a trowel.
