Sad but true, many (most?) Americans are not conversant with any abstract form of measurement, be it meters, yards, or frotz. I have no idea how large an "olympic swimming pool" is, but from my window to the back (inside) fence is 105 feet, roughly 30 meters. I am more comfortable with Imperial over Metric simply because I learned it in childhood. Conceded that "half of this or a quarter of that" is easier to visualize. But for important things, my coffee pot is rated, and marked as, a 10 cup pot. But my coffee mug holds a little over 3 cups from the pot. Marketing, I think. . .
