When I was in grammar school (I didn't go any higher) we used a curious slide projector that looked like a movie projector. Only a few folks in the county had b&w televisions. We went to the auditorium for anything more than a slide show. There was a 16mm projector there. With sound!!!. . .

In high school, I worked for Audio/Visual setting up films on the 16mm projectors. It got me out of Home Room and I got to see some movies rather than sitting through Study Hall. We also had mimeogragh machines rather than photocopiers.

I college the dreaded machine was the overhead projector. One professor used to flip his notes in and out before anyone had the chance to make copies. I finally started bringing a camera to class. The final solution was when we came in before class one day and disabled the overhead projector.

I started in A/V in 7th grade, led me to a good career and eventually networking/IT. Pushed many of those carts around in my day and yes, it was great in the German class when the teacher would leave for a smoke break and I could run the training films backwards....

The new James Webb orbiting telescope is now operational. It can see much farther and with better clarity than anything before. It was decided to aim it at the center of our Milky Way and take a look at that black hole. Remember those lost socks, keys, nuts, bolts, screws, luggage. etc. :einstein:
