That was the case, but I have made some changes since that picture was taken.
I have upgraded to a 20,000rpm spindle and switched to a 3 flute carbide endmill. The swarf now flies clear of the cutting area, so no more vacuuming while the program is running. I made a cover with a window in it to contain the chips. Now, when the program is completed I just remove the cover, vacuum, load new piece, and repeat. The material is called Starboard, it has no smell.
My son was really skeptical about this little router, as he runs machines that can cost almost a million dollars. After the spindle upgrade and switched to a 1/4" 3 flute endmill, we cut the run time from 46min to 22min. He is now really impressed and really surprised what this little machine can do.
I will be prototyping some aluminum parts when this run is done. Then we'll really see what this little router can do.
