Which press do you use? I always expect handgunners to go with Dillon, but that's no blue press turret.

That's right, it isn't a Dillon. The Lee LoadMaster takes a little more care to make run right, but produces good ammunition. I use their Classic press for some rifle and testing loads. with the four station turret advancing on the single cartridge, it is fairly productive. The progressive is for 100s at a time for practice and tactical drills, etc.

I am curious about the press, too. I've been wanting to move to the Forster Co-Ax (after a brother-in-law swore by it doing competition work), but I have struggled to put the funds out there.

As to the labelling of the dies, it should be possible to etch it using a battery charter, q-tips, and salt water. I have a vinyl cutter that allows me to put registration/serial numbers and logos into some of my work. The finishing is then however you want to do it.

I have a coax and I find it difficult to use but seems to be quite accurate but I do all my precision loads on it so it’s hard to judge.
If you have too long of dies it won’t clear the handle. The ergonomics are all weird as well.

When I have more time I want to design a press that follows similar principles yet is more ergonomic to use and could be built in my shop. But I also have a couple hundred other things I want to do as well..

I would love to see that. I have thought about sound a simple machine shop designed press, too, but I don't know where to begin.

I made a tap follower using tubalcain's (mrpete222) instructions/plans on youtube. I used 12L14 steel. No heat treating like tubalcain did since I have no means to do it and I'm not really sure it's needed. Search for TIPS #359, #360, and #361.

If I ever get around to it I’ll post it on here. I lost use of an arm for a while so it’s been difficult for me to even keep up with the few job shop parts that come through. Especially considering I still have a machine down and I never finished the shop

If I was closer to you, I would head on over to help finish that shop. Are you in need of assistance on it?

Early this morning (before work), I managed to finish swapping out the cross slide on my SB Heavy 10 for a taper attachment. I checked the screws (and got the measurements in case I ever need to make a replacement). I'd always been a bit confused as to how this one would work without detaching the slide-to-screw nut, but once it was lined up, it made sense to me.

I got it all together (except for a missing gib, and in the following pic, I hadn't yet made the washer or installed a custom made 5/16-18 nut pair to lock it) :

Now I need to source the upper swivel gib. I might take another gib for the compound slide and mill it a little narrower, but we'll just have to see.

Heh. I just watched a rerun of the old a-team TV show (season 3, episode 9, called "The Sheriff's of Rivertown"). It was the first time I've seen them locked in a machine shop. It included a lathe and chuck, along with their usual torch cutting shenanigans. Made me laugh!
