Surprise -- more tool holders! What a novel concept!

image.jpeg

I have one of the small A2Z tool posts for my 6" Atlas. I don't use it exclusively, most times I favour a more solid three or four-way post, but I do use it on occasion and figured I could use a few more holders. Truth be told, I was really just looking for an excuse to try some dovetails on the shaper.

They came out ok -- nothing earth shattering here -- and they didn't take too terribly long to make. And one thing about small machines, you can have a whole slew of holders and they still fit into one drawer!

Thanks for looking!

Got the Motor mounted and wired up box. Still need to wrap the wiring in some split loom and make 2 holes in the box to pass the power and motor wires thru. Then figure out where I am mounting the box. Thinking of mounting it under the DRO head since it is easy to access.

Following up on my power vacuum project (https://www.hobby-machinist.com/thr...you-make-in-your-shop-today.67833/post-580763), I used it today to clean up at one customers home. It did a great job of vacuuming up pine cones, pine needles and small stones from the street, much better than my Billy Goat power vacuum. Even with a slightly wider nozzle (Billy Goat is 27", my project uses a 29" Little Wonder nozzle), the vacuum was significantly more powerful. The only thing it had a problem with were small branches, that the nozzle would wind up pushing instead of going over them and being vacuumed up. Pushed them all into a pile, then took hose off the nozzle and fed the branches into the hose, and they were gone.

It has a MUCH better vacuum than the Billy Goat power vacuum (a little surprising to me, as the Billy Goat has a wider but about the same diameter fan, and the engines run at the same speed, so the fan spins at the same RPM).

Still have to do some minor tweeks to it:
-I moved the rear wheels too far back, now it's very difficult to lift the front end with the engine/fan mounted. I'll have to move them a bit forward
-need a new hose clamp for the hose. The one I found was slightly too big (can't quite tighten it enough).
-hose between the blower and bagger is slightly too long
-the support rods I made for the "front" of the bagger (the side where you open the bagger and pull the bags out) are 1" square (way overkill), and they interfere with the bags when they are full. I can make it a little better by using a thinner support, but it'll still be an issue. Not an issue for the bagger in it's original application (on the tail end of a zero-turn), as it is entirely supported by the "back" of the bagger, and trying to mount it that way on my unit would be difficult (frame would need to be stronger as all the weight in the bagger would be on one side, with some way to handle the torque of the loaded bag because they are offset from the mount).

I don't think it'll be good for vacuuming lawns unless they are flat, it's just too heavy and top-heavy, but it's still going to be pretty useful to me. I'd have to rig up some kind of drive mechanism to do hills, even if I

Got the power lift done on the Mill. Mounted it under the DRO head for easy access.
After looking at it, I think I'll redo the bracket so it is on the backside of the cross bar.
Ran out of shop time so I'll do it this weekend.
Sure is nice not having to crank that wheel to lift or lower it.

Here’s a little something I’ve been working on. It’s a stand for one of my surface plates. 3 point pivoting stand. Saw it on a video and thought why not?
Any drips in paint are from my five yr. old who insisted he help dad paint with oil base paint:rolleyes:o_O:eek:.my problem is I can never wait the days for the paint to harden. Always end up scratching something from anticipation!:mad:19682261-39EC-498A-8C7F-5D74178469D0.jpeg8EC543D4-B02B-4A74-BDF3-3679F765A7AD.jpeg
