Thx mike.
I remember in my laboratory the sunlight coming in the tall windows was at times blinding in the winter, and roasting
in the summer. A couple of grad students decided to cover part of the inside of the windows with aluminum foil.
When summer came around, all of the windows cracked on the same weekend when nobody was around.
After removing the foil, the universities maintenance dept. was called. Their reasoning for the broken windows
was that the building was settling. Whew! two very relieved grad students. Windows replaced with tinted glass.

Well, I'm catching up with posting some of the things I've worked on in the past couple of months. I'm posting some work I had to do to a steady rest that went to the 20" L & S I sold last month. The people before me started modifying a steady rest that went to a Monarch lathe to fit the L & S. They did a nice job welding a piece of 1" plate to the bottom of the casting as well as facing it off flat and left it at that. I had to set up and do some mill work to install the rails to hold the steady rest in place when in use. Had to make a new replacement jaw. Also made a hold down bolt and strap. Then the final steady rest. Ken
