Started making my cycletrol control head and tach:

I needed to cut some screwdriver slots in the heads of some weird proprietary bolts. I keep my Burke mill set up with a slotting saw just for this purpose but I don't have a good vise for the mill. I have a 3" Palmgren drill press vise set up on the mill table as it is just about the right size for this little mill. the problem was I couldn't get the fixed jaw of the vise close enough to the saw to cut the slots. I am limited in arbors and spacers for this mill. So I took the vise off and milled longer slots in the vise so that I could move the fixed jaw of the vise in the Y axis on the table so that I could cut the slot in the bolt head.

I just recently bought a small Enco screwless vise at a garage sale. It has a bit more capacity than the existing one I use on my mini-mill. Though the sides were slotted, the ends weren't. So I clamped the base in my smaller vise and went after the ends with a 3/8" carbide end mill. I was concerned about how well slick, surface ground steel would hold in the slick vise jaws, so I rigged up some additional security...

I had some problems with thieves last November. They cut my power wire and expensive winter grade fuel hose. Not sure why they left without the pump. Only seconds to spin it out. But not anymore. they will to need key or cutting torch to take now

Well ... maybe at my shop in the boondox of Oregon.

But not here is suburban Tempe, Arizona. Besides the fact that we have Sheriff Joe Arpaio enforcing the law here in Maricopa County, my next door neighbor is a Mesa, AZ cop. Wouldn't do to be blowing away the random burglar here. ;~)

I have attack cats and Poodles that think they can take down a deer. Any gunfire will be my doing. As I live out in the county, they will have to get out the gate before the danger from me will stop. The cannon will open the salvo then AR-15 with M855 ammo and then the handgun,if it goes that far. There are plenty of warning signs and an electric gate is in the works. Anyone that ignores all that ,has a death wish. Old vets are not something to take lightly.

Sounds like fun if you are not on the receiving end. But here in Canada it's hug a thug. I would end up in jail before the real criminal. Laws here are so much different. As long as they don't make there way into my house while I am asleep then the crap will hit the fan.

Here in the US it all depends on where you live. I have some friends that moved to a small town in Georgia for example where the local police met them at their house when they moved in, and informed them that they were expected to own a gun, and that if there ever was a break-in call the cops, but they expected the situation to be already handled when they arrive. No one there locks their doors. Wonder why?

A simple project. I took some 3/4" conduit, cut them to size, crimped & drilled the ends. My son & I then installed them on a window at his tattoo shop.
