Almost everything I do is just one or two parts just for me, or for friends.
It is interesting to see what's required for producing many parts; the thought process, dedicated tools, jigs for multiple parts.

I cannot show a picture of it assembled, I've never seen it in use. I just make them.

Blaser got it exactly. There is a pin in the propeller (put there by the owner/operator) that engages the two legs that stick out under power. When power is absent the two legs fold back out of the way and it "free wheels". It took me almost a year to figure this out. (I'm not a modeler)

Been making parts for the boss lately. Nothing special bunch of bushings and spacers ec... Here's a lil Job I finished on Thurs before Christmas vacation.. . He s building a Bobber so I came up with an idea to make this medallion as a memorial for his recent loss of his son..He liked the idea so I went with it. It is going to be mounted by way of socket head caps, button heads or silver soldered to the side plate on the oil tank. Its most likely going to be finished with a brushed copper to match the theme of the Bike. I made holding fixture and cut out diamond and engraved on my little Taig CNC mill . Convenient machine for this kind of stuff. Prob going to sell it when I leave the Co.

Awhile back I bought some metal shop cabinets at an auction. Deal was they came "with contents" which ended up being all sorts of automation /electrical controls parts. In the mix was this rather large 5" dia pressure gauge. I thought it looked kinda cool so I decided to mount it in my Tormach mill enclosure. Spliced it in line with the power draw bar supply. My compressor sits in a far corner of the shop so now I can see at a glance if it's on and what pressure its at. The neat part is being so large it has good resolution and the needle moves smoothly. Not something I'd run out and spend money on but it was an easy little incremental shop improvement.

Next up I think may be getting my surface grinder off the temporary dolly and onto leveling feet.
I really like the casters to move it around but its time to plunk it down and get it leveled and hooked up to a dust collection system (yet another project!) This is how it looks now.

Plan is to bolt unistrut bars underneath the cabinet into the existing threaded holes and have them extend 2" out to left and right. That will allow easy access to the adjusting nuts. Compared to the stock leveling feet, the word overkill comes to mind. Again, wouldn't run out and buy these particular feet for the application but they came with my mystery contents cabinets so what the heck.

When I was in Afghanistan I couldn't help but notice that they had a lot of sand and rocks. So I started looking at the rocks. Some were rather interesting - especially when compared to the sand. So I ordered a couple of rock tumblers from Harbor Freight. Soon friends were bringing in rocks asking to have them polished. One guy told me he planned to buy a rock tumbler as something he could do with his young daughter when he got home.

Just thought I'd mention that.

thanks Charles, a rock tumbler is definitely on the list but it'll have to wait until after our next and hopefully final move, fingers crossed next year. funnily enough my grandad had one years ago

Not working in the shop today, but I am in the middle of replacing my 23 year old water heater. The tank is just fine, but the aluminum burner tube corroded through where it touched the steel bottom pan of the unit. It's amazing how much of a difference a whole house water filter and a water softener can make in the life of your plumbing and water heater!

Made a motorcycle laser alignment tool:















Admittedly, I didn't put a whole lot of effort into making it look pretty. I was after functional and in that respect it was a great success!

Clamp it on and you get alignment and wheel offsets in a few seconds instead of fooling around for a half hour with strings and weights. No more friggin with strings so they aren't contacting the bike stands or anything else in the way.

And with the lasers (unlike strings) there's no doubting the lines are dead nuts straight or worries about knocking or moving something once you've finally got it set up.

I should have built one years ago.
