I was walking with my beagles a couple days ago and someone had thrown away 2 toolboxes, each partially filled with tools including an entire set of good fractional twist drill bits

Here's the beags, they didn't give a hoot about the tools

also welded up a barge for my canal with the FCAW, ground it and added JB weld; it obviously needs some sanding and trimming

Made an adjustable tramming bar. The dials can be positioned from 3"-11.5" apart.




For my wife's birthday, she wanted something unique. I made this two candle holder. One is a traditional Turner's Cube, the other is similar using a different layout. Both started at a 3.25" cube weighing 3lbs 6oz. The Turner's cube now weights 9oz.

Here's what I did today. I Finally got a rotary table and decent vice for my Benchmaster so I was able to modify the little hardware parts for the snare drums that I make. Before and after picture. The little wood bits Pink Ivorywood on the left are Bubinga and Maple on the right and I made those, too. I'm more of a wood worker but have always wanted to get into metalworking.

I'm getting closer to firing up my south bend heavy 10. But first I needed to get a tool post installed. I got a enco indexible tool post for free and it seems to be good quality so I'm going to use it untill I feel like I need to upgrade to a qc post. Well I had to re-machine the clamp block or nut. That let me use my little Burke mill for this task. I really love this little mill, she's so fun to use and just old school cool! I'm still tooling up the mill and the lathe. Here's a couple pics of the mill under power and making a cut, I used some cutting oil and the pics look cool with the smoke spirals.

Here's a couple pics of the nut in the compound and the tool holder mounted up. I'm getting closer to using the heavy 10!

It's a pretty cool tool holder, back of the handle one full turn and it clicks into different positions, one turn to tighten it and your good to go. I tried it out with 1/2" hss and that was a little to high above center. I tried a 3/8" brazed carbide and it just needed a little brass shim to raise it up to center for the face cut. I think I'll be ok with this tool holder for awhile, I can mount 4 different cutters in it and it's not really difficult to change a cutter.

I use a tool holder like yours on my logan and I like having 4 bits in it--it works great

Got a LOT of Gas Struts to put into place, and because of the nature of the project, I cannot open the linkages fully, therefore, I have to compress each strut to enable fitting into place...

Some of these struts are 800 Newton Metres, tough work to close them up!

I do a lot of tool changes in my small mill, which uses an ER 32 collet.

Simplest way to stop the whole thing turning, was to simply fold a flat bar bracket, and attach it to the head, therefore, it is ALWAYS in-line, and drop a spanner into it...
