I have out grown the capabilities of my trusted Craftsman "Commercial" 12" lathe. I'd like to sell it and I'm not sure what a fair market value will be. It is the later 101.28990 lower drive model. Even though it is a low hour unit, I was bored a couple of years ago and fully restored it...
I looked to try and find the best place to post this, apologies if I missed the mark.
I've been wanting to get a lathe for some time now. I create kinetic metal art in my home shop, and I need a lathe to help me produce various parts and jigs. I received a little Christmas money, so in addition...
Hey all,
I'm looking to buy my first lathe. I need opinions on brands people prefer and general pricing. I'm familiar
with larger Lathes, but I cannot afford or fit one into the space I have in my townhouse. I've scoured Craigslist
and several other online buying networks to try and find...
Hello folks,
I've found a lot of good information on this forum so I though't I'd pick the brains of the experienced machinists here about restoring the bed of my lathe. I have an Atlas 12 inch lathe, and like many who own one, it's seen better days. I've done a lot of work on the thing (and...
Rather than hijack one of the other Atlas Mill threads I decided it would be best to start my own.
I have had this mill since late last summer but I haven't had much time to work on it. I had started dis-assembly a few months ago but today I finally removed the main casting from the floor...
I recently acquired an Atlas 10 with a 54" bed. It has wear along the first foot or so of the ways. In order to scrape the whole bed back together would I require a straightedge that's around 54" long? Would a surface plate that long work if I scraped both sides in simultaneously?
Just...
Well, I'm now working on the drawing for the last remaining missing critical part on my Craftsman Horizontal mill. I did find a metric drawing on line, and I'm working on turning it into a drawing of an M1-60.
Looking at some pictures captured from Ebay, I can see I already have a problem...
During my most recent house move the rest of my crossfeed handle broke off. The counterweight had been knocked off for at least 10 years before.
Now and then I'll see one on eBay for some princely figure. I thought "Why not make one?" Well, I don't have a ball turner or a broach to make one...
I recently purchased a Craftsman horizontal mill, model 101.15500, serial number SM 000626, and it is missing a few pieces. The first one I was planning to make, as it seems to be a simple lathe/vertical mill project is the draw-in bar for the MT2 tapers. I saw a lot of pictures of the bar on...
I have a Craftsman 101-28990 w/QCGB. I would like to know what size gears should be on the change gears when adjusting the QCGB for threading? Im assuming there is a neutral set of gears that are used when using the QCGB?
Love this forum!
HI my name is joe. I am trying to replace the main v belt on my craftsman atlas lathe. I have taken the outer ring and gear off of the spindle shaft. But the woodruff key will not come off the shaft. I have used pliers and everything I can think of to get it out of its slot. I need some advise...
