What Did You Buy Today?

Not a purchase, but a shed find. Had an old shed on the property that had this in it when we bought it back in the early '90's. Just now got around to cleaning it up. Will hang it in the shop and put sumpthin in it. Lord knows there is plenty of sumpthins in the shop.

cool. I have no artistic skills so wouldn't be able to do that but, I collect old double barrel shotguns, both side by side and over/under. have a bunch from 1890 to the early 1970's. love the engraving they did back then. here's my 1931 Browning Superposed. first year of production.

Following has arrived over the past couple of days:

Birthday pressie from daughter, son-in-law and mother-in-law (and more importantly than any of the preceding three: grandson Freddie :)) via Amazon vouchers. Llidismex or whatever they're called. Had good luck with their QCTP and holders previously.

Fed up with using the calculator on my phone (which has an unintuitive and button-pressing-heavy UI) to do trig calcs. £25-odd. Always preferred TI to Casio.

It's so teensy and cute!. £25 off eBay. A bit of a punt but it's surprisingly (relative to price ;)) well made and built. Belts aren't exemplary instances of quality belt manufacture but eh, I got 10. It seems to be up to putting tiny radii on HSS lathe tools; it's me that needs to get better:oops::grin:. Also it might be handy as a model to use if/when I make my own 1x42 sander.:big grin:

£20 off eBay (I was the only bid:oops::big grin:). The chuck's MT2 so no use for the mill (maybe use it in the lathe's tailstock?) but I got it for the collets, spanner and pretty box. :)

Tracy tools catalogue (gratis obvs.). They have a good name AFAIK in the UK model engineering. I bought a couple of dies off them last year, they were helpful when I gave them a bell, and the dies turned up quickly so maybe give them a go. (YMMV).

Oh and since everyone is posting pics of their Schaeffler pocket guide:

Mine's a secondhand copy I found in a charity shop a couple of months ago.;)

you can get an R8 to MT2 adaptor.
You can, yes, but that would increase the length of the whole arrangement, reducing the work envelope and would, I guess, reduce rigidity.

Also, I have this funny feeling in the back of my head, that an R8 adapter wouldn't be all that helpful...

...my mill has an MT3 spindle.

I know you're in the states, but there are other tapers than R8; lots in fact. :big grin::p

my drill press is MT2, my lathe tailstock is MT4, and the spindle is MT6, so yes, I know. also, the Morse taper in your mill originated in the USA, just like the R8. :)
