It was a bit over $40 for 3 feet. I'm sending it out for heat treatment so it needs to be the correct - and the same - material or the heat treatment won't be correct.

The dull gray one on the left is likely 8620 cold rolled. The other one looks like tool steel round (silver steel for our friends across the pond), but it could also be S/S. Is it magnetic?
