Now that the valves are done the head needs installed and the cam timed to the crank. Esslinger Engineering recommends a straight edge be balanced on the #1 cylinder cam lobes, measuring equal distance down to the gasket rails in both sides of the head. I also use a dial indicator to keep track of top dead center. This will get me close enough that the engine will run, and I can fine tune it with the adjustable cam gear.
