Trash or treasure?

Well you named the thread correctly! One man's trash, is another man's treasure!
I would carefully test and dress each one. Old tools are the best tools. I "shop" at flea markets every chance I get, and always look for things that others no longer have a use for. Usually find great quality!

Hi I would not be afraid to use them, do you know how to perform a ring test on the grinding wheels. If you have never did a ring test or inspected a grinding wheel I'm sure that if you go to a site like Norton that makes grinding wheels they will have the ring test and probably other inspections to be on the lookout for. We will go through our grinders monthly, quarterly at a maximum and inspect the wheels, we leave our equipment unlocked at night and some of the machine operators will use the grinders for jobs from home and grind aluminum and wood and when we come in in the morning we will have to dress and inspect the wheels.
