I noticed the cigar boxes, my grandfather used to save them for storage. I don't think he ever smoked, so I'm not sure how he got them, but a few are still around that are identical to yours.
The table assembly almost ready to machine. The vertical runners, despite not cleaning up totally on the ends, were surface ground and inspected to less than .0001" in height and parallelism between the two.
I really have to clean up that H beam and square up the flame cut end. I've done more than shown, but I've neglected to take pictures so far.
Forgot about this pic; milling the sides of the ram flat and parallel. Because of the wear and sag of my mill table, If I used the end of the endmill with the edge to be milled facing upwards it would be bulged in the middle. It was within .001" all around doing it this way.
And no, I had no part in any of that machine table destruction.
