Tearing when Threading

Glad you got it all sorted out. A simple "sanity check" you can use to see if the angle is correct is just take a look at the right side of the tool. It should be parallel to the travel of the compound.

A very understandable mistake I think, considering how different lathe compounds are marked. Just great news you have success!

Indeed, now I look forward to making more and better threaded parts!

so this is the elevation adjusting post for the rifle rest.. If I do anything else, it would be to add an offset screw hole on the end at the top, to 100% secure the top part of the rest from wiggling loose.
I am also real happy with the overall fit of this post in the center-post of the rest. very little wiggle. means the locking knob will have an easier job to do!
