Slanted holes

Coincidence: I also have parts missing from the left hand.

Single flute uni-bit step bits drill incredibly round holes! I have enlarged the center hole in a few circular saw blades from 5/8" to 3/4" for my ancient Walker Turner radial arm saw with a 3/4" arbor. The drilled blades cut noticeably smoother than 1" arbor hole blades with a tight fitting 1" to 3/4" adapter. The dado set in which I drilled both cutters end every each chipper out to 3/4" leaves as smooth a bottom dado as the set did when it had a 5/8" hole and was used on a 5/8" arbor.

The single flute design keeps the bit from vibrating back and forth causing an oblong hole. The cone shape of the Uni-bit step bit keeps the bit centered in the hole extremely well.

Two flute step bits cut faster but don't leave as round of a hole as the single flute ones... kind of like regular two flute drill bits.

I assume you are drilling on a drill press. Have you checked that the table is square to the spindle?
