Hello looking for toolpost for Emco v 13. Any idea?
Regardes from Slovenija

Been there. Incredible.
Making your own toolpost or buying?

That's the choice you need to make. Make your own for a fraction of the cost of buying or buy one. The Norman style QCTP and holders are not hard to make. That's what I did. Lots of forum members have made them. They can be made with a lathe and a drill.

On the other hand, if you make one, you will always be finding that you need another holder because you either don't have it or you have it but it already has a cutter mounted. So you will have to shut down the current project in order to make it or dismount the existing cutter in order to mount the different cutter. Which sorta defeats the purpose of the Quick Change. The AXA or BXA tool posts are not exactly cheap but once you figured out which size you needed and bought it, additional tool holders are mostly pretty cheap.

For under $100 I bought all of the materials to make the QCTP and around 15 tool holders. I think that I have made 10 or 12 tool holders so far. I made 7 tool holders to begin with. 2 boring bar holders and 5 regular holders. I now make a tool holder for special tasks as the need arises. I don't have to change out tool bits anymore with the tool holders that I have.

Looks like it already has a QCTP. Just make some tool holders to fit what you have.

Hay there, apparently I mispronounced, it’s a basic piece that carries inserts with blades. According to the traces, it was obviously damaged, as the inserts in it can be seen. I'm worried if this will be okay or I have to find a new piece. Is Dixon S1 / M MB. What do you think ?

Do you mean the plungers that are sticking out? Based on the shape of the toolpost (and looking up this link: http://www.lathes.co.uk/latheparts/page13.html) I think they are supposed to be like that. The tool holders themselves slide 'around' those plungers, and the bolts on the top pull them flush to 'hold' onto the holders.

Nothing on that tool post looks broken? That little bit of a gouge on the face of the tool post doesn't seem like it is in any way functional/an issue.

No nothing broken now, only that insert points on thet, hope everything will be O.K..
Nice talking to you guys, thanks.
Stan
