I'm probably overlooking the obvious, but I'm not sure I understand how to keep the tailstock alignment "locked".

I gone through the manual several times, and have aligned my my tailstock dead center with the headstock dead center by moving the opposing screws little bits to get the razor blade square. Problem is when I release the tailstock clamp to move it back/fourth on the bed ways, it's able to move slightly side to side, throwing off my alignment.

I've looked for some sort of locking screw, but haven't found one. Is this normal?

This is from the 1228 manual. Do you not find this locking screw?

I can get the thread pitch and diameter of it if you need it.

Here's a close-up of that hole...

Since I just got the lathe, I'll get in touch with PM... Thanks so much for all your help!

Thank you! I just sent PM an email about it... I hope to hear from them tomorrow.

They have always been very helpful in resolving any issues I may have had with my PM1228 lathe or my PM728 mill (not many).
Keep us posted.:)
