Old mantle clock.

great, some of them are very useful. But you are I think also hitting Post Reply by accident :-(

A thread from 2010. Kinda weird deja vu.
I carried this old Elgin for about 30 years.
It quit working 20 or so yrs ago, I just found it in the box I stored it in ages ago.
Like that old mantle clock, gave it a thump on my palm, it started working again. For a couple of hrs. Hasn’t worked since.
This was just a working man‘s watch in 1907 when it was built. but the movement is really special.
At least nowadays.
look at the detail. Wow!
I had it cleaned once when I burned a hole in the crystal when welding, but it seems no one (at least local) fix’s these things anymore.
And really, who needs a pocket watch anymore. Besides me.
