New "To Me" JET JVM-840

Nice score! I did a restore on a similar machine to yours a few years ago. Mine doesn't have the ram and maybe table is a little smaller. Looks like all the machine is there to start with. Good luck with the project!

Thanks Radials. Very nice restoration by the way. I can only hope mine comes out as good. I think the paint I bought is very close to yours. I went with Rust-Oleum Farm Equipment Massey Ferguson Gray Enamel.

Oh that poor machine, Glad you are rescuing it, I hate to see old iron go to the scrappers. Keep us posted with pics along the way as you work on it.

I feel the same way Flyfool. A few years back they scrapped and old lathe. Can't remember much about it other than a nameplate that said something about the machine being used during WWII. I took it to the scrap yard myself and remember we only got $0.04 /lbs. Shame

Here are some random pictures to get an idea of the condition she is in. You can see the rust on the spindle bearing cover and locking nut inside the pulley housing. That was a pain to remove. Flustered It took plenty of PB Blaster and persuasion but eventually it gave. Unfortunately, I lost most of the pictures I took of the quill and spindle. I haven't clean any of the ways yet so I'm not sure of their condition but the table looks pretty good other than the surface rust.
