A friend is rebuilding a 1966 Bronco. He is removing the sheet metal and there are some buried rusty nuts that are in a hard to get to place.
He tried 12 point sockets and just couldn't find anything that would work.
I'm looking for a quick and easy to make a form fitting socket.
I am thinking some 5/8 stock, drill a hole through -not blind and file the corners.
Is there an easier way?

Ran into the same thing decades ago and took two junk/spare 1/2 drive sockets and welded them together with 1/2” drive on the outside. I had to grind the one that was grabbing nut flat to get rid of chamfer so it could get down in there on the nut. I had a 3/8 and 1/2, all I could find was the 3/8”.

Good ideas.
The nut in the photo is .508" X .513". I tried a 1/2" socket, even a worn out one. The nut is too big and rectangle it seems.
A coworker showed me a pic of a plumbing pipe plug socket = 1/2" Unfortunately these aren't 1/2"
Just buy a 8 point socket. Also called a double square socket.
I'll see if NAPA has one.
