Laser Tach shiney tape

The mill is a BP clone using a vfd ,
lathe is a SB 10L witch is not on a vfd I can Use the tag on it.
Got the thing mostly for the mill using the vfd,
I'm thinking find a sleeve /Velcro that slips onto the shiney spindle that's always Ollie, but could be a prob if it slips off during use,

I use some solvent and clean the surface, put the sliver of tape on, then cover the reflective tape, with a piece of clear packing tape, over the reflective tape. The reflective tape is covered, stays clean, stays put and the clear tape does not effect the tachometer reading.

Spindle is to shiney, oiley, thinking tape would turn to goo when oil gets on it

I used my hand tach to record the actual speed so I could make my own chart of RPM for each belt position.

If I had a VFD, I would use it to make a chart of Hz vs RPM.

You really only need to use it to make the charts.

Shucks, Bro .. just use bailin' wire to hold the sleeve in place. Don't need none o' that fancy velcro stuff :)

John , I'll save the bailin wire for the important fixes
Dave, that is the plan once I get it to read accurately.
