Looks like it is in pieces.

Taken apart for what reason?

Is everything there?

Can you put it back together?

Any tooling to go with it. Tooling cost more than the lathe! Take a look on the auction sites for what others in your area sold for.

Does anyone know what model lathe this is?

It certainly looks like a Jet 9X20. (BD920n). They made many, many just like that. Also under many other names and paint colors, but pretty much all the same Chinese made machine. I've had one for about a year and a half, bought used for $500 and I have made quite a few improvements to it. It should make a fine addition to your shop, as long as you respect the limits of the machine. Any parts needed might possibly be found at Grizzly, or at least that is where I've found mine, however not all parts on similar machines are interchangeable. I have modified mine for variable speed using a (treadmill) DC motor and a purchased DC motor control, added a Quick Change Tool Post, added a back splash, modified the tail stock (cam lock) and several other mods. Here is a pic. Good luckimage.jpg

Jet BD 920 L. I have one.

Thanks for the quick response guys. He is offering it to me for $600. I dont know how good of a price that is for this machine. Whats the max capacity of something like this?

Like what was mentioned before, any tooling added to the deal will sweeten it. With the cross slide apart, one doesn't know exactly what he is getting. Parts are not cheap, especially when one has to purchase castings. Have a knowledgable friend look at it, and offer what you think it's worth. You'll find that prices vary greatly across the country. In my part of the world, machinery is very scarce (read expensive). John w
(Edit). Do I see a bent cross slide lead screw sitting in the chip tray, that itself is a few bucks. I think I'd start at a few hundred bucks and see where it goes!

I'd approach this one with caution. I have a Grizzly lathe that size, and close inspection of the photos suggests the following:

It does indeed look like a severely bent cross slide lead screw in the second photo. That would make me wonder HOW it got bent. What condition is the nut in? The cross slide also appears to be missing its gib (maybe somewhere in the chip pan?) There's what looks like one set of jaws for the 3-jaw chuck atop the head. Where's the other set? Where's the 4-jaw chuck? I see what looks like a face plate on the shelf underneath, and both steady and follow rests in the cardboard box. Where's the tool holder? Maybe that a 4-way in the chip pan, but I'll bet there's no QCTP. I see a dead center in the tail stock. Where are the drill chuck and the live center? Where is the center for the spindle? Is there a complete set of gears for inside the head? You can check the Jet manual for a list of what should be there.

Anyway, there may be a lot of part$ you need to buy if the ones I mentioned are indeed missing.

PS - No big deal, but the crank wheel in the cardboard box is NOT from this lathe. Looks for all the world like it came from an RF-30 clone milling machine.

Best wishes! Hope this helps.

If this was your second or third lathe to own, it would make a good project lathe to recondition/rebuild. But if this is your first, I would pass on unless you want to buy it with the intent to rebuild it later in life AFTER you gain some experience and buy a lathe in good shape to learn from.
I see a lot of hidden damage in that lathe that would drive you nuts trying to figure out how to fix without the correct tools.
Man! That cross feed screw is bent into a "L" shape!
