Mine opens and closes better than most new chucks and it has a hole on the back for oil..... But until I find a key it will be a paper weight...
Jacobs bought a company called Superior Gear and had tooling around to cut gears and started making these chucks for a little while after acquiring the new company.....
I have one of these chucks and this is the first time I have seen a chuck key for it..... I use mine as a paper weight....

works pretty good actually,still getting the bugs out,motor was fried so I used one twice as fast and lowered gearing,thinking about variable speed,I have a 3 phase I can run variable,but its 4hp Chinese explosion proof (overkill)
