Index 745 question

Trying to do "just a little more" than an R8 is intended for. Usually something like a large diameter (3 in.+) cutter with integral shank and/or heavy interrupted cuts.
I think that is the best answer to the question. And that is one reason that I like NMTB 30 taper so much better.

Worse than having the the dog shear completely is when it just gets deformed and prevents removing the tool from the spindle. Worst case it even prevents removing the screw from the spindle to free the tool.

When you have employees, you get to learn from their mistakes too. REPEATEDLY!

I like your machinist's union symbol, I was a member of the union when I served my apprenticeship and was a journeyman in the same shop until I left the shop after being laid off and went to work for another business. I got a withdrawl card and could go back to union membership without a initiation payment, just start paying dues again, but at age 76, that is quite unlikely to happen.
I am in the IAM local 749 out of ft worth. I am a machinist/ mechanic for the railroad. Still a few years from retirement.
