How to attach shim stock to tail stock base

I've determined that my tailstock center is .0069" lower than the headstock center. I've located some .006 stainless steel shim stock but not sure the best way to attach the shim stock to the base of the tail stock. Machine is a MicroMart 7x14.

Any ideas would be welcomed.

Thanks,
Jethrow

Hey Jethrow,
is the tailstock misalignment constant across the entire surface or just in a spot that is worn?
tailstocks will wear on the front edge from being dragged across the ways on older lathes, slightly tapering the TS underside compounding the TS quills orientation to go lower as it's extended.
IMHO,i'd check out the difference across the whole length before i'd make changes for a small section.

Put a centre in your spindle and another in your quill. Bring them together and note the difference, left/right and up/down.

this guy one time trammend (sp?) my wood lathe in that way too.

couldn't it be the ways worn down near the headstock too, and not the tailstock itself?
