How "sharp" should HSS lathe tools be?

i use a.r. warner co. (latrobe pa.) tool bits that use hss inserts. to sharpen the inserts; you just remove them and hone them on the flat stone that you desire

I also use these from time to time. I have them with positive rake, And with no rake.
