But, now I'm confused (again?) I thought you were going to cut the female taper into the HF spindle?

Hi ok sorry my lack of information again. Ok see attached pictures as I'm slowly moving along. The first quill I made I used the hf set up that threaded on. The problem was it stuck out so far that it limited use because it took up to much in the chuck. So I decided to copy more or less the style that uses a collet. Yes you can buy these from spoko however they are $700 a piece. I'm sure they are quilty well balanced etc but I just could no justify it. So I'm trying it in my own.
