Help Needed

Here is what I do, and it works quite well. After welding, heat the part to a dull red, the color of cooked carrots as they say

Carrots boiled or fried in oil or butter?
I prefer them when they get a light mahogany color… :lmao:
About barn lime, I can't find it on Wikipedia! What is it, exactly?

Sorry for the late reply, I had to take time out to attend my grandsons wedding. Thanks to all for taking the time to write the very helpful replys. With all the help you gave me I was able to finish machining this part. That welded part is very hard and the J2 Bridgeport is to flexible for the job. I was not able to move the upper arm back toward the column since it is frozen at its location.
Tinkering with your replys.
Reshaped carbide cutters
Used cutting oil
Changed angle of boring bar in relation to work
Changed feed rate from .008 to .003
Changed speed from 80 to 135 RPM
Cut from .015 to .010
Final diameter was 2"s

Again Thanks,
Joe
