Well if someone comes up with a way to make it easier I would definitely be interested the solution sounds like it might be major surgery

Shorten the studs and thin the nuts so that the nuts can fit past the bolts when one of the bolts is tightened all the way.

In line with the post above, instead of shortening the posts, you could make 3 U washers about 1/2 the thickness of the bolt, and place these on the threads of the chuck, put chuck on spindle and get bolts started and pull the U washers off then tighten the bolts fully.
