DIRTY coolant reservoir!

Benmychree and projectnut know what they are talking about
It's a nasty job and it stinks. No wonder it gets put on the back burner

Fred was always dragging machines home from an auction. Invariably, if it had a coolant system the coolant was semi-solid and rancid enough to gag a maggot. Rubber gloves and a putty knife were the required equipment. I was sure grateful when I became too useful to be relegated to that cleanup.

If possible, make a basket from window screen to contain/protect the pump.

LOL , cleaning out a mill tank is apprentice work . Wait till you have to clean out a large Blanchard grinder tank ! When I bought my 618SG I left the tank behind because it smelled so bad .

Not just rookies who get stuck with that.
we have a fat lazy that me and the programmer have to clean up after, twice a year.........

Fat and lazy is not a prerequisite to be assigned cleaning coolant tanks. Sometimes a bad attitude on the part of even a senior employee earns the assignment.

Then there’s the case of the boss being the only employee. Regardless of the position in the hierarchy the job still needs to be done.
