Cutting 90 degree v groove with pointed end mill

I'm coming late into this discussion, and you obviously worked it out and did a nice job, but wouldn't another way have been to use the 90° angled mill after first cutting a rectangular slot with a small end mill or slitting saw to make relief for the tip? The way V-blocks are often made? That's if you feel your design can handle the extra clearance at the apex of the V. Then you wouldn't have had to retram the mill head (and of course that would make it possible at all for those of us who don't have pivoting heads).

Yeah, I guess that would have worked. It would have required two set-ups though, too! Getting everything lined up correctly would have been quite challenging, but where there's a will, there's a way, right?
