Bending brackets

Here are some photos of the setup. There are probably multiple ways of set up on this bender. Just have to try test parts. After cutting lengths , rounding off edges and drilling I places a slight score in small bend. Then a test fit to shelf size to account for thickness of material on bend.
( 1/4" x 1 1/2" HR). Then a slight score ( with a small grinder Approx. 1/16" or less before final bend. Al.

Thanks. I might need one of those HF benders.
Robert

I make bends like these in 1/4" HRS using my Hyd press brake w/no issues.
Material is 2.25" wide though.

Mine is without the stand. As for I do not have a good place to mount to floor. So you can clamp / bolt to table or I just clamp in vise. (A large vise) I had to clamp stops so the vise would not spin when applying pressure to handle. I had the handle extended all the way which was not good for the handle. It ended up with a slight bend in the extension section which I had to un- bend later. I would buy this bender again. Al.

Be careful of flat bar from the big box stores. Some, if not all, of it is sheared from plate. It is possible that the grain of the metal is parallel yo the axis of the bend. If that is the case the metal would be prone to cracking at a sharp bend.

I purchased at a large metal supplier in Glassboro NJ. The metal bent well. Thanks for the info. Al.

I do know that I purchased a piece of 1" x 2" stainless there in the past that I thought would be smooth 4 sides and ended up having been cut on a plasma cutter with rough edges. My mistake for not checking it out more throughly.
