I just located the manual for my speed reducer. the two speeds are 2900 and 135 fps. respectively, using a 1725 rpm motor. The gentleman that owned it built steam engines as a hobby and used it for cutting steel and brass.
i use the hell out of my little saw.....for light tube i have a carbide 12"...for sheet metal i have the Milwaukee steel saw(it is a dream to cut with, 1/2" plate like butter)
