I'm going to remove a stainless barrel off a Savage 7mm Remington Magnum. I can't imagine it's worth much. Any use for tapered stainless with a rifled hole through it? Other than cutting it down and using it for a home made single shot pistol, I can't think of much.

How about making special washers,stand-offs. It's too good to toss.

Think of it as a piece of thick-wall tubing. You can machine off the taper.

I have a gazillion uses for old barrels and barrel stubs..... muzzle brakes ,thread protectors, pillars, bushings, stand offs, chamber gauges, nuts, comparators, seating dies, mandrels, arbors, bolt knobs, etc,etc...the list go on. I never throw any out.

Is there something wrong with the barrel ?

Some of us out there are hAppy to use second hand barrels , especially savage barrels as they are so easy to change and head space
