A tricky problem to measure.

Thanks everyone for your help.
I took your suggestions and cut down a cheap set of calipers, worked well.
Using the calipers and cross referencing with the known sized holes I drilled, made it easy.

It turns out this truss rod was a 5/32 thread. So I made a new truss rod nut on the lathe and the guitar is finished now.

Yes she sounds amazing just like a real vintage 62 should.
He will probably be getting a pickup rewound as it getting a bit low on out put.
But I am happy with it.
A 1962 Strat one owner guitar, been around the globe a few times and its still rocking. :>)
