5c Collet Size ???

I always assumed our collet chuck at work was a 5c. Its actually a 2j and the collets go up to 1 3/8 with a through hole. Sorry I couldnt help.

I actually think a 5 c collet has a a 1.238-20 thread so likely this is not doable if it has to pass through the collet

The main body of a 5c collet is 1 1/4 dia . So if you plan to have a 1 1/4 shaft go thru it won't work. And most spin indexers don't have a way to mount a chuck.

Thanks guys... I think I will go with the emergence collet and turn it in my lathe.. I think it will have less run out than a 3 jaw... I saw a emergence collet on the net but didn't know that it could be custom fit in a lathe... This I can do...
An emergency collet is machinable, it can be bored or milled to the size and shape required within its range.
Do not forget to remove the lock pins before use.

I needed hold a spindle to cut splines so I increased the shaft size to fit in a spin index without the draw nut or a collet, pushed out the indexing pin drilled and taped for set screws. It worked with no problem.
