I can say that wanted ads are not very successful
I had a wanted ad on a local marketplace. Twice now people have sold exactly what I was looking for and posted their ad without first looking for wanted ads.
Yesterday a very little used 2005 Colchester Student 2500 came up for sale 2 minutes from my inlaws, 1/2 hour from my place, and despite my alerts and daily search I did not see it for an hour. I had a massive budget for such a hole grail lathe, but got beat out.
Two days before that my brother bought a 1440 import lathe that is like new. That said we're still waiting for another 2000 or later Colchester Student.
