1/6th scale 1890's 30ft navy steam cutter (live steam)

"off the building board" day,, two heat guns and a friend had the hot glue giving up it's hold on things,, last planking can now be clamped.. set some of the metal work in place to "get the look of things" looks much more like a boat..

@tghsmith , your work on this boat is masterful. Really beautiful work and I continue to look forward to seeing your updates.

That is just amazing. So cool to watch this come together.

thank you all,, hull is planked, sanded , seams calked, sanded, filled, sanded and given a heavy coat of primer that will be mostly sanded off.. inside was given a coat of tinted epoxy resin with milled fibers added,, lead grey to meet the navy specs,, all gets to sit and cure for the weekend..

Looks fantastic, but I'm struggling with the scale. The picture you posted with the engine sitting in place isn't what I expected. Either the engine is smaller than I thought or the hull is bigger. Could you post a picture with a dollar bill for comparison, thanks.

scale is 1/6th so 2inches of model = 1 foot , Slim is 12 inches tall so he scales as a 6 foot person.. Using the Stuart Turner engine block decided what scale the model would be, either a 28-30-33 ftr at 1/6th or a 36-40ftr at 1/8th,, 1/6th scale stuff is much more common.(help in crew and details later on) 30ftr at 5ft of model was a good choice,, the difference in lenght between the 28ft and 30ft boats was mostly in the engine space,, my engine is slightly longer than scale so the extra room helps... I was luckly that I located a source for scale brass wood screws (a lot will be needed) with slotted heads (philips heads came out in 1930'3) dollhouse building stuff (1/12 scale) is providing brass hinges and small hardware,
