Joe Pi did a video on one he made for his GoPro, which is a better design if you're going to take the time to make one, though it does more to stabilize at the expense of limiting the movements somewhat. (The camera always remains level, with no way to angle up or down while preserving the stabilization function.)

Another common design is just gas pipe with a T fitting and a cross bar for a handle, and a freeweight hanging on the bottom with a cap to retain it.

Decided to make a couple of ER32 collet blocks.
Had a large pin which I had picked up at the scrap yard and annelled before throwing it in my stock pile for future use, so cut that in half to make a square and a hex collet block. Also had a chunk of cast iron to make a collet chuck for the lathe while I was set up to cut the collet taper.

Duh! Why didn't I think of that? I mean on a very specific level. I have a bunch of stock I need to anneal before I can do anything with it, and we've had fires in our backyard fireplace three times this week and it never once occurred to me to toss a piece or two in. Thanks for reminding me that I need to do that!

Also those collet setups look great!

Still working on the tool chests. Down to finishing now. The first coat was a heavy cut orange shellac rubbed in with steel wool to help fill the grain. Now have two coats of hand rubbed varnish on. Its boring quality control so not sure how many coats they'll get.

Looking good Greg. Every once in a while I get the urge to do cabinet work again, but so far I've been able to stifle it. Stumbled on this the other day, and really like it, but would probably hate myself by the time I finished it. Fortunately I have a vast list of things that would come before it. Mike

She had a hard morning riding on the Skidoo Paco, We're getting the dreaded red X Mike, I make a lot of those.

Mostly completed attaching a Warn 54" plow to a Snapper Pro 52" walkbehind mower "drive unit". Some pictures of it and description are here: http://www.hobby-machinist.com/threads/modifying-a-snow-plow.56971/#post-469402

Still considering changing how the weights are mounted, and still a few bits to be trimmed/cleaned up and the whole assembly painted, but it works ok when I tried it out today. It'll take a bit of practice to use it well, but I think it'll do a good job for me.
