Yet more scammers on the loose - PayPal

We need to start with our leadership, it doesn't affect them so it's not important to them.

Yesterday I received an email from paypal saying they needed to verify my identity. I figured it was a scam so I forwarded it to paypals spoof address.

Then last night I tried to buy something off Amazon and my payment was denied. If figured it was a glitch so I used my secondary payment method.

Then I was bidding on an ebay auction and I won, then my payment couldn't be processed and I lost the end mills to the next highest bidder.

To say the least I was ****** off. Called paypal and got some kind of crap about my account being locked. I had to verify my identity. Had to give ss #, dob, pin #, take pics of my license, and do facial recognition with my phone. Took multiple tries to get it to work. Damn system kept freezing up. I came very close to telling paypal to kiss my butt and cancel my account.

I asked them are you gonna replace the end mills i lost because of this crap? i didn't get an answer.
This is what I am worried about. You can't tell real from scam!

Chee-it... I haven't been able to get into my retirement account all year, because it locks out at one failed login attempt and they have to send you a letter in the mail with a code to get back in. Something's got to give. 3rd party authenticators are a pain in the butt, and whenever I need two-factor authentication, my dang phone is on the charger in the other room. At least I'm looking old enough now that my beard is going white that the checker says, "yeah, whatever" when I hold out my ID for alcohol.

I was carded once when I was in my mid fifties by a clerk who was less than half my age Back then I still carried my Wisconsin ID. The number on it is 2821. I still have the ID although it has delaminated now and I no longer carry it.

My retirement is in Schwab. Every couple of weeks I have to go though having a text message sent to my (wife's) phone. I then have a relatively short time to get it on the computer. I need to change my password again also. About once a year I'll go to use a credit card & it will be turned down. Much fooling around to verify that no I didn't try to buy $999 worth of jewelry in Cuba. Whatever they run for checking for scammers must be pretty good.
